Yes, that's the main thing that makes it different from a regular float vest. The foam sticks slide out of the suit, so you're in control of how much help your child gets. Start with all of them in for a brand-new swimmer, pull a couple out as they get stronger, and take the rest out once they're swimming on their own. You can put them back in any time. Nothing is permanent.
Go by height and weight rather than age, and size up if your child is between sizes. The suit should be snug but never tight — a loose float suit rides up in the water. Full measurements are on our Size Guide.
